YouTube has signed an extensive agreement with the 300-acre Hollywood Park development in Inglewood, California. Under the deal, the 6000-seat live entertainment venue will be named YouTube Theater for a period of ten years.
The streaming giant will be hosting concerts, esports competitions, award shows, YouTube creator events and more at the venue starting this September.
The space boasts of a 6,100-square-foot stage for which the theater has already booked names such as Pitbull, Iggy Azalea, Marina, Louis Tomlinson, and more through early 2022.
Focusing on interactive experiences, a large scale digital YouTube play button icon has been installed outside the venue, which can transform into an immersive video screen. Guests can interact with it by mirroring themselves on the screen and by viewing highlights of YouTube’s creator and artist content.
Inside, a dynamic digital wall that celebrates YouTube creators and artists by showcasing them in a gallery-like setting will be on display. The venue will also have a 3,500-square-foot private club.
With increasing competition from rivals such as TikTok, the Theater will help YouTube build brand awareness and relevance in the community.
