When people say ‘cricket is a religion in India’, it really isn’t an exaggeration.
This year, cricketing legend Virat Kohli turned 34 – and his fans made sure this was one birthday he wouldn’t forget!
PUMA gathered thousands of fans and threw a grand art-inspired birthday party, where they created a very special and super unique tribute for him: a 20ft-by-20ft mural of his face, made entirely out of…
red cricket balls!
Okay, grand might just be an understatement.
First things first, how cool is this mural?
At Carter Road Amphitheatre in Mumbai, Gurseet Singh, a mural artist, created the iconic piece of art. Fans gathered and brought the massive mural to life in a 9-hour-long marathon activity.
This was no ordinary event. It was a wholesome celebration with notable personalities who made it all the more special. Bhagwani Devi, a 94-year-old sprinter, and eminent sportspersons such as Srihari, Anuj Rawat, Glan Martins, and Anwar Ali were some of the attendees.
Oh, and, Ishaan Khatter was there too! Did you know that he’s a hard-core Virat Kohli fan?
An opportunity to meet Virat
PUMA conducted a UGC contest and gave the Kohli crew a chance to wish him Happy Birthday in person!
Needless to say, people got really creative.
From tattoos of Kohli’s face, to haircuts with VK’s initials, and poems dedicated to him, the best and most talented superfans were selected for an in-person meeting. Few ardent fans were even invited to the party venue to co-create murals and celebrate his special day in a memorable way!
The party favours
To make it a truly unforgettable occasion, PUMA made his birthday a week-long celebration… Because a one-day celebration just wasn’t going to cut it!
The brand activated key stores across the country and came up with some pretty cool Kohli-themed engagements for fans. Tattoo artists, face painters, and hair stylists were present in-store to give them a Virat-inspired makeover. If this isn’t birthday goals, then what is?
A celebration like no other
Virat Kohli is an icon and inspiration for thousands of Indians. Celebrating his birthday is a symbolic tribute to all his achievements and the pride that he’s brought to the country!
PUMA’s take on a birthday party was quirky, creative, and a whole lot of fun.
It got fans excited and everyone intrigued, and the campaign became the talk of the town. Well… with that epic mural and the amazing crowd, the hype isn’t surprising.
Birthday party goals, anyone?
