MPL Is Sneakily Liking Celebrities’ Old Tweets To Promote Its App

Mobile Premier League is having a bit of cheeky fun at the expense of some Twitter celebs.

To promote their ‘Hain Akal, Khelo MPL’ campaign, the e-sports and mobile gaming platform has gone and liked old tweets of former cricketer Wasim Jaffer, comedians Vipul Goyal, Tanmay Bhat and ‘coolfunnytshirt’.

On seeing the old tweets pop up on their feeds again, the celebs tweeted saying their ‘akal’ wasn’t working when they posted the tweets.

The brand responded to the regretful tweets by telling them to get on MPL and form their fantasy league teams, since they’ve got ‘akal’ now.

The tweets tie in with the brand’s latest campaign perfectly, which is based on the idea that anyone with ‘akal’ or a brain can build a fantasy team and play on MPL.

They’ve cleverly made a connection between the tweeted responses and the new ad films from the campaign:

People were having a roll with the banter, some users even challenged MPL to ‘find their Akalfade moments’ and made memes out of the ads.

The activity created a lot of buzz on Twitter and the hashtag #HainAkalKheloMPL even began trending in India.

MPL not only gained popularity on Twitter, but also got users to watch and share their TVCs with the activity – which we think is genius!
